I’ve altered a few of my colored photographs into black and white. This will help me better distinguish the shadows, highlights and gradation throughout the drawings. At this point I plan on drawing the Kodiak Bear Cubs using charcoal but I might use some cont’e chalk.
The Kodiak Cub Bear project continues, as I’ve begun sifting through almost a thousand photographs that I’ve taken of Munsey and Boda since they arrived in late October of 2015 . Since late October through November and into early December of 2015 I spent 10 hours a week observing and photographing the cubs at Wildwood Park and Zoo in Marshfield WI. I felt that it was vital to dedicate as many hours as possible document the cubs as they were adjusting to their new habitat and observe the cubs they interacted with each other. I’ve also spent many hours contacting as many people involved in rescuing the Kodiak Bear Cubs and share some of the photographs of the cubs. I plan on creating artwork that will be both visually interesting to the viewer’s eye but also educational and provide some financial support dedicated to the cubs through the sales of my artwork.

In 2003 I returned to college as a non-traditional student and discovered printmaking. I had no idea what printmaking was at the time and now I don’t know how I’d live without my printing press! I fell in love with printmaking because of the diversity it offers me as well it being a vehicle for me to create artwork that addresses the vast and diverse world of how humans communicate with each other utilizing different forms of technology over the past 100 years.

In the past five to seven years my daughter Katherine and I have individually donated over 3,000 hours of our time devoted to developing, mentoring, organizing, promoting and instructing at Wisconsin 4-H State Arts Camps, 4-H Art Teams preparing for 4-H State Youth Leadership Conference and Wisconsin State Fairs.
I strongly feel that as a professional artist it my duty to share my love of art through an educational format. I’ve been involved in the 4-H program since 1966, when I was living in Chicago Ill. and I’ve been dedicated to the 4-H Organization ever since that time.
This video is a collective of visual memories from the 2013 Wisconsin State 4-H ARTS TEAMS Planning weekend held at Upham Woods, located near Wisconsin Dells. The state 4-H teams represented in this video are Art Team, Press Team, Showcase Singers and Drama Company. The members of these teams gather together every April are comprised of over 100 youth that live throughout Wisconsin. Every June we gather together to create, art instillation’s and exhibit, photographic, musical and theater performances presented to 600 to 1000 4-H youth delegates at the state 4-h Youth Leadership Conference in Madison. The theme for the 2012 Youth Leadership Conference was “Exploring The Possibilities”
