Gallery 450 hosted it’s 15th student art exhibition which offers the viewer an amazing array of work created by the students who have been enrolled in art courses during the Fall and Spring Semesters of 2012-2013. This exhibition displays our students’ ability to work hard, think critically and be open to new ideas. Creative people are often seen as a being in a a class by themselves-as people with certain “gifts” that the rest of us don’t seem to have. Yet most scientists agree creativity has little to do with talent or skill. Among the traits that creative people have is strong interest in finding and framing unusual problems. In addition there is the ability to take risks-creative peopl function on the edge of their competence; the motivation is not grades, money, or recognition, but simply the desire to learn.

The Art Discipline at UW- Marshfield Campus embraces the many possible forms and functions of art. The images on this video represent the Introduction to Drawing Course and 2-D Course offered at the UW Marshfield / Wood County Campus during the first semester of course study in the Fall of 2012.

The art program strives to create an environment that encourages students to take risks and experiment with subject matter, concept, process and creative outcome.

An updated video will be posted in about two weeks.

From altered books , collage and printmaking, anything goes at Wisconsin State 4-H Arts Camps !

In the past five to seven years my daughter Katherine and I have individually donated over 3,000 hours of our time devoted to developing, mentoring, organizing, promoting and instructing at Wisconsin 4-H State Arts Camps, 4-H Art Teams preparing for 4-H State Youth Leadership Conference and Wisconsin State Fairs.
I strongly feel that as a professional artist it my duty to share my love of art through an educational format. I’ve been involved in the 4-H program since 1966, when I was living in Chicago Ill. and I’ve been dedicated to the 4-H Organization ever since that time.

This video is a collective of visual memories from the 2013 Wisconsin State 4-H ARTS TEAMS Planning weekend held at Upham Woods, located near Wisconsin Dells. The state 4-H teams represented in this video are Art Team, Press Team, Showcase Singers and Drama Company. The members of these teams gather together every April are comprised of over 100 youth that live throughout Wisconsin. Every June we gather together to create, art instillation’s and exhibit, photographic, musical and theater performances presented to 600 to 1000 4-H youth delegates at the state 4-h Youth Leadership Conference in Madison. The theme for the 2012 Youth Leadership Conference was “Exploring The Possibilities”

Susan Wendlandt- Pulling A Print

For the past five years I’ve been participating in the International Collage and Exchange held in New Zealand and orchestrated by Dale Copeland. This is the link to learn more about the International Collage Exchange and Sale. http://outofsight.co.nz/Dale/collage.htm

The artwork and information posted under this heading are a sample of the six collages that I entered in the 2014 International Collage Exchange and Sale.

Title : Legato:

The collage is created from textile as the background. I’ve incorporated an experimental drawing under the reproduction image printed onto a plastic sheet as the mid-ground of the composition. The dancers and small square and rectangles formations are sections from two different original Intaglio prints which I applied as the foreground of the composition. I added the dancers in such an arrangement to play with the formations in an interesting arrangement to create more visual interest to the compositions.

I decided to use a music term for my title because I often incorporate sheet music when creating original Intaglio prints that incorporate into my collages
and other artwork.

Title: Ostinato

The collage is created from wall paper samples, reproduction prints of my original Intaglio prints and home made sculptured paper. The moon is created from a solar plate etching to transfer and print Beethoven’s hand written sheet music. I utilized the wall paper to create the mid-ground and background of the composition, in the formations that represent tree trunks, while the reproduction prints were cut into a formation that represents branches and the bears. I added the bears and tree branches and thickets in such an arrangement to encourage the viewer‘s eye to move throughout the composition while creating more visual interest and texture to the composition.

I decided to use a music term for my title because I often incorporate sheet music when creating original Intaglio prints that are incorporate into my collages and other artwork. I also find that the music terminology can best reflect the feeling of mood of the artwork.

Title: Perdendosi
The collage is created from tissue paper and photograph print as the background. The Tissue paper and print had been sealed and then I inked a wood block and printed over the collaged image. Then I had taken an original print and applied it as the foreground of the composition.

I decided to use a music term for my title because I’ve found that the music terminology can often reflect the mood or feeling of the artwork. DSC_0149
